Seaway Marine Group offers mechanical dredging to municipal, state, federal, and commercial clients.
With Poseidon® and Flexifloat® sectional barges and Trimble® GPS equipped long reach excavators we have the equipment and experience needed to complete your dredging project in the most efficient and environmentally responsible manner.
We also offer environmental dredging services, including the stabilization of dredge spoils and disposal of spoils at designated sites upland.

Jacques Cartier State Park Beach Area Improvements, Morristown NY
As part of the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s work to rehabilitate the waterfront, improve recreational facilities and modernize the park’s day-use areas along the St. Lawrence River, Seaway Marine Group completed approximately 4,000 CY of mechanical dredging with a Trimble® GPS equipped long reach excavator on a sectional barge platform tended by a truckable tug. Seaway’s scope of work also included: in-water construction surveying; installation of turbidity curtain; and preparation of the dredge placement area including stripping and piling topsoil and the installation and removal of a silt fence and straw bales.

Seaway Marine Group completed 2,100 CY of mechanical dredging with a Trimble® GPS equipped excavator on a barge. Prior to dredging we constructed a watertight containment cell where the dredge spoils were placed and stabilized with Portland cement. Once stabilized the spoils were then trucked to a designated upland disposal site.

Seaway Marine Group completed 7,000 CY of mechanical dredging with a Trimble® GPS equipped excavator on a barge from French Creek, Clayton, NY. The spoils were then transported in watertight trucks to a designated upland disposal site that Seaway had prepared to contain the spoils for an extended period of time.
An interesting element of this project was the need to protect an endangered Blandings Turtle that has a habitat at the dredge site. Humane traps were placed throughout the site and checked multiple times per day to ensure the turtles had the ability to ingress and egress.

Seaway Marine Group completed 900 CY of mechanical dredging with a Trimble® GPS equipped excavator on a barge from the Ogdensburg Green Belt Boat Launch, NY. The spoils were then trucked to a designated upland disposal site that Seaway had prepared to contain the spoils for an extended period of time.

Seaway Marine Group completed 700 CY of mechanical dredging with a Trimble® GPS equipped excavator on a barge from “The Cut” in Henderson Harbor, NY. The spoils were placed at a near shore placement area for beach replenishment.

Braddock Bay Beach Barrier & Wetland Restoration, NY

Utilizing a long reach excavator, on a sectional barge platform tended by a truckable tug Seaway dredged 2,600 CY of sand from the navigational channel in Braddock Bay and provided site work and grading services with excavators and skid steers to place the dredge spoils in a new emergent wetland area. Utilizing a LCM-8, articulated dump truck and excavator Seaway also transported of 4,300 tons of rip rap used to construct the wetland emergent area.
