Re-floating of the Tim S. Dool, St. Lawrence River, NY
Seaway Marine Group supported the re-floating of the ship TIM S. DOOL that ran aground on November 23rd and was re-floated on December 16th. Upon receiving the call for assistance, Seaway crews worked 24 hours per day for the majority of the operation. Seaway provided a range of services to Algoma (the ship owner), Resolve (the salvors), and the US Coast Guard. These services included providing a standby tug, SEAWAY JOAN, launch services with their work boats SEAWAY MARY and SEAWAY OSPREY, and barge services with their tugboat SEAWAY PATRICIA and 90’ ramp barge. Seaway co-ordinated and delivered large grocery orders provided by The Big M in Alexandria Bay, waste water pump off services by Pomerville Septic, and water delivery via tanker truck on SMG’s ramp barge by DryHill Water Haulers.

Island Duchess Salvage & Tow, Alexandria Bay, NY
Seaway Marine Group responded immediately to a request for assistance for passenger vessel Island Duchess, which had run aground and was taking on water. Working with Hunt Underwater Specialties, we were able to temporarily patch the hull and assist in dewatering efforts to keep her afloat.
We also performed the initial pollution response, placing oil containment and absorbent boom around the vessel and oil absorbents in the vessel’s holds to minimize the environmental impact.
Finally, we completed the dead ship tow to Kingston, Ontario with our tugs Seaway Maid and Seaway Patricia. The Island Duchess has since been repaired and is now back in operation.
