GENERAL TOWING, HARBOR & SHIP ASSIST SERVICES

Seaway Marine Group provides general towing, harbor and ship assist services on the Great Lakes, Lake Ontario, St. Lawrence Seaway, Erie Canal and Champlain Canal.

We have a range of vessels to provide these services including our twin screw 60' tugboat SEAWAY JENNIFER, our 45' tugboat SEAWAY JOAN, our truck-able tugs and aluminum workboats.

Our shallow draft vessels, including the SEAWAY JENNIFER with her retractable wheelhouse, allow us to access hard to reach and shallow locations including the NY Canal system. In particular, we have used our vessels to provide short distance towage of barges and cargo to and from larger tugboats where the loading/unloading point is too shallow or narrow for them to access.

Our smaller workboats can be used for any marine transportation purposes; from transporting people and materials to an island job site, to providing a safety boat on a marine project.

Check out our fleet of workboats or contact us today to discuss the most appropriate form of marine transportation for your project’s needs.

100,000 gallon LNG tank tow; Ocean City, Maryland

Seaway Marine Group worked with Stasinos Marine, LLC and used their truckable tug, Seaway Patricia, and work boat, Seaway Mary, to tow a 140’x40’ barge carrying a 100,000 gallon LNG tank to be offloaded in shallow waters. This tow was repeated 5 times over the course of a month.

The project had significant logistical challenges and Seaway’s crews were required to time the tide for navigating through a narrow bridge opening, shallow water conditions, strong inlet currents, high vessel traffic and short tide window for rolling off the tanks at their discharge point.
